This look
requires a lot of time if you have a lot of hair. You will need
a heat protector for your hair, a blowdryer (depending if you showered day of
styling), a straightener (if you have a hair type other than curly) and a 1
to 2 inch curling iron. ISO works best for the curling iron and straightener.
Curls are best a day after you wash your hair, so if your hair gets greasy or
smelly after one day of skipping a shower, be sure to shower a day before you
plan on styling. But if you've already showered, you needn't worry.
Step 1: If you took a shower the same day you are styling your hair, blowdry it
on a high setting with low to medium heat. Otherwise skip to step 2.
Step 2: Brush your hair with a paddle brush, making sure all knots and tangles
are gone. If your straightener takes a long time to heat up, turn it on and let
it heat up during this time. Part your hair the way Taylor's hair is parted in the picture.
Step 3: After you've brushed your hair, if you don't have straight hair already
straighten it (this is optional. You don't have to straighten your hair, but it does help make curling easier). Be sure to use a heat protector, I recommend the Aussie or Paul
Mitchel brand, before straightening.
Step 4: You are going to curl your hair in layers. So, take the bottom most
layer of your hair and separate it from the rest of your hair. Put all your hair
but the bottom layers into a knot at the top of your head.
Step 5: Take your curling iron and curl two-fingers-wide sections of your bottom
layers. Hold the hair in/around the iron for ten seconds and then release.
When curling, try not to clamp your hair. What works best, is wrapping your hair around the iron and holding it there. Make sure to keep the iron vertical.
Continue with the rest of your hair.
Step 6: Now, take out the next layer of hair from your knot/bun. Curl the same
way, and repeat this pattern until you are done curling your whole head.
STep 7: If you have bangs, straighten them lightly untill you reach your brow
bone. Taylor's bangs are slightly curled, so you can curl them slightly with your curling iron.
Step 8: Now, run your fingers gently and carefully through your hair.
Step 9: Flip your hair over your head and then flip it back up.
Step 10: Apply Aussie Catch the Wave Hairspray or your favorite brand of curl
lock spray all over, holding the bottle 10 to 12 inches away.
